Voluntary enrolment in 2-Step Verification is now over. Thanks to everyone who enrolled.

2-Step Verification is now Mandatory for VIU faculty and staff.

Passwords are the main way VIU accounts are protected today. However, passwords alone are no longer enough to secure your important documents and access.

That is why we are bringing in 2-Step Verification (2SV)! 2SV is the #1 tool you can use to help secure your accounts. It is a proven, effective way to improve your security and frustrate potential cyber criminals. 

Starting January 23, 2023 faculty and staff are encouraged to enrol in 2SV - 2SV: How do I set up 2-Step Verification?

And to thank you for helping to make VIU more cyber secure you will be entered into our 2SV Prize Draw!

2SV is designed to be a non-intrusive layer of protection for you, your account, your information and your devices. And it is quick, you can sign up in just 5 minutes.

The 2SV Voluntary enrolment phase runs until May 22, 2023 for all VIU faculty and staff.

Open to all VIU Employees who enroll in 2SV before May 23, 2023

How to enter

  • You will be automatically entered when you complete voluntary enrollment in 2SV.
  • Did someone who is already enrolled in 2SV refer or encourage you to enroll? Both of you can earn an extra entry into the draws. Just complete the 2SV Voluntary Enrolment Survey (survey link provided by the IT Service Desk once 2SV has been enabled for your account).
  • Once you have entered your name will stay in the draw. Enroll early for more chances to win!

  • February 27, 2023 - *Awarded* VIU Ultimate Swag Bundle 
  • March 27, 2023 - *Awarded* Kobo Libra 2 plus a Mini VIU Swag Bundle 
  • April 26, 2023 - *Awarded* Apple AirPods plus a Mini VIU Swag Bundle
  • May 26, 2023 - *Awarded* VIU Ultimate Swag Bundle

Restrictions

  • 2SV Voluntary Enrolment Survey can only be completed once
  • Only one prize per person
  • Only one referrer allowed per survey, but one person can be the referrer for multiple people
  • Referrer must already be enrolled in 2SV to qualify for additional prize draw entries
  • Not open to members of IT
