We've been busy migrating sites from our original VIU Drupal theme to our new, mobile first theme that matches the rest of our public VIU sites and strives for consistent user experience.
Shown in the following sections are the new locations of buttons and menu options commonly used by content editors:
The Edit button has been moved to the bottom right of the screen and is displayed as a pencil icon:
The Create content button has been moved to the bottom right of the screen as is displayed as '+ Create'. Note: hover on the create button then slide the cursor up to the type of content:
The Content View option has been moved to the configuration menu on the left of the screen. Steps to find:
- Click the double arrows '>>' if the sidebar is not visible
- Click the 'Cog' icon
- Find 'Content' in the list
The top banner image, or “Hero Image” (first visual element a visitor encounters that sits behind the content of the site) is to give prospective students an idea of what it’s like to be a student at our university so it’s good to show an image that highlights the campus or program facilities, field schools, etc., with the subject in the photo engaged in some way with their professor or research.
From the landing page of your site, you can replace the Hero Image and any child pages of that page will change to that image. The Hero image can be modified by editing the page and finding Hero image in the edit screen. If you don’t have a suitable image, you can contact Strategic Marketing as they likely have images to use, or can arrange with you to have a photo taken.
The Customize this page / Change layout menu options have been moved to the bottom right of the screen and are contained within the paper icon:
