Responsibilities of Mobile Phone Users

  • Due to the confidential and private nature of telecommunications, it is your responsibility to ensure the digital information on your mobile phone is secure.
  • You must maintain a lock screen password on your mobile phone to prevent unauthorized access to your device if it is lost or stolen.
  • You should monitor your data usage to avoid excessive data charges. To help manage data usage always use Wi-Fi when it is available (for example on Nanaimo campus).
  • You are responsible for backing up your phones and transferring your data when you upgrade phones as this is not a service VIU IT currently offers
