If you find that you're not able to connect to the VIU Campus wireless internet for some reason, here are some things you can try to get back online.
There are three options in this case:
- Follow the directions for your operating system located at How Do I Connect to Wireless (Wi-Fi)?
- Contact the IT Helpdesk for assistance. We are on the third floor of the library, building 305 room 300.
- Ask for assistance at the Library Service or Reference Desk.
Network Services monitors our network looking for unusual traffic. If, on the rare occasion, Network Services finds a computer that appears to be infected with a virus they will block the computer’s access to protect our network.
Network Services will place a block on your computer account to prevent wireless authentication. This will block access to any VIU wireless service.
To find out if you have been blocked, if you wish to have the block removed, or if you are not blocked but still cannot connect to the internet, please contact the IT Helpdesk for assistance. We are on the third floor of the library building 305 room 300. For IT Helpdesk and information, please see our Overview of Services page..
